QR Control shows a dynamically changing QR code on every connected display. A visitor scans it to connect their phone to that display; the mobile store site then shows the QR Control campaigns running there, and tapping one plays it on the display — the visitor's phone becomes a remote control. Set it up in 5 stages: enable QR Control at platform level, set the default QR code settings, turn on the QR-Control touch-point on a running campaign, add the mobile store site banner and call to action, then set the pop-up message.

Before you begin

1. Enable QR Control at platform level

  1. In the left navigation, select Platform Admin.
  2. Under Enabled Features, select QR Control.
  3. Set Enable QR-Control on Connected Store Displays to on.

2. Set the default QR code settings

The default size, colour and position apply to every landscape and portrait display that does not have its own override.

  1. In the left navigation, select Displays & Devices, then select Manage Display Types.
  2. In the row for the display type (for example Landscape or Portrait), open the … menu and select View/Edit.
  3. Set the default QR code size, colour and position for that display type, then save.

Each store also has a QR Control - Mobile Site Template field on its Store Details tab. It chooses which mobile site template opens when a visitor scans a QR code in that store.

3. Turn on QR-Control on a running campaign

  1. In the left navigation, select Campaigns, then select the name of a campaign that is already running on Website or Digital Signage.
  2. On the Campaign Brief tab, under ENABLED TOUCH-POINT(S), set QR-Control to on.
  3. Select Update Campaign Brief.
Enabling QR-Control sets the campaign's targeting automatically — a read-only QR CONTROL INTERACTION rule group appears on the Targeting tab. You do not add targeting rules yourself.

4. Add the mobile store site banner and call to action

  1. Select the Creative tab, then Campaign Assets.
  2. Expand ONSITE BANNERS and select Upload new Onsite Banner.
  3. Select the Call to Action sub-tab.
  4. In the touch-point drop-down, choose Mobile Store Site (QR Control).
  5. Switch Show CTA (Overlaid over Campaign Banner) on and set its button style, colour and position.
  6. Select Save Changes.

See Add the mobile store site banner and call to action for a QR Control campaign for the full set of options.

5. Set the pop-up message

  1. Still on Call to Action, select the Interaction Settings tab.
  2. Switch Show Pop-Up Message when User clicks on Call To Action on and enter the message copy.
  3. Select Save Changes.

See Update a campaign's interaction settings for the full field list.

Verify it worked

Every connected display shows a QR code. Scan it with a phone: it connects to the display, and the mobile store site shows a carousel of that display's QR Control campaigns above the menu, with the other menu items pushed down. Tapping a campaign's call to action shows the pop-up message on the phone and plays the campaign's video on the display.

Troubleshooting

The QR code is missing on one display

Cause. QR Control is switched off for that display.

Fix. Open the display in Displays & Devices, select the Enabled Features tab and tick Enable QR Control — see Enable QR Control on a display.

The visitor sees no campaigns after scanning

Cause. No campaign running on Website or Digital Signage for that display has the QR-Control touch-point enabled.

Fix. Turn on QR-Control on a campaign already running on Website or Digital Signage, and check it is actually targeted at the display — through its playlist under Digital Signage, or its website pages/sections.
