Enable proximity personalisation with MIST
With MIST connected, a display changes what it plays as a known visitor's phone enters a zone or comes within range of a virtual beacon. Set-up has 3 parts: connect your MIST account at platform level, map each store to its MIST site, and map each display to a zone or virtual beacon.
Before you begin
- An HQ Admin account with the Admin role.
- MIST (virtual BLE) access points deployed in the stores, with sites, zones or virtual beacons defined in your MIST organisation.
- Your MIST organisation ID and an API token from your MIST account.
Connect your MIST account
- In the left navigation, select Platform Admin.
- Under Enabled Features, select MIST (Proximity).
- Set Enabling MIST allows Brands to support Proximity based Personalisation in Stores / Locations to on.
- Under ADD YOUR MIST ACCOUNT CREDENTIALS BELOW, enter your MIST Organization ID.
- Enter your API Token.
- If you need to limit or extend what the platform pulls from MIST, expand Advanced Configuration. Here you set the API Limit, choose the Topics to subscribe to (Zone, Virtual Beacon, RSSI Zone, Device Events, Alarms), choose which MIST objects to Whitelist (site clients, WLANs, detail, org sites, maps, zones, vBeacons, beacons, devices), and set Fetch Data Periodically.
- Select Save Changes.
Map each store to its MIST site
- In the left navigation, select Stores / Branches, then select the store's name.
- On the Store Details tab, in MIST Site ID, choose the MIST site for that store.
- Select Save Changes.
Map each display to a zone or virtual beacon
- In the left navigation, select Displays & Devices, find the respective store and then select the display's name.
- Select the Enabled Features tab.
- Tick Enable Proximity based Personalisation (using MIST).
- Choose Zone or vBeacon.
- In the select that appears, choose the zone or virtual beacon the display sits in, for example
Welcome Zone. - Select Save Changes.
Verify it worked
In Displays & Devices, the display's Enabled Features column shows the proximity icon. Walk into the zone with a phone that is known to the platform: the display switches from its rotation to the campaign personalised for that visitor, and returns to rotation when the phone leaves.
