Add Google Maps directions to your mobile site
A Directions menu item sends visitors to Google Maps with the store already set as the destination. Because the URL uses a token, 1 menu item in the template works for every store. The same token approach works in campaign URLs.
Before you begin
- Each store has a complete address. See Add or update a store's address.
- You know which template the item belongs in: the default, or a template for particular stores.
Steps
- In the left navigation, select Platform Admin.
- Under Enabled Features, select Mobile Store Sites, then select the template.
- Select Add Menu Item.
- Name the item, for example
Directions, and choose an icon. - For the URL, enter a Google Maps directions link with a store token as the destination, for example
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=${StoreName}.The platform replaces the token with the store's own value when the site loads, so the destination is different for every store.
- Select Open in New Tab, so Google Maps opens in the visitor's maps app or browser rather than inside the site.
- Under the states, tick Show in Away from Store State. Untick the states in which directions are not useful.
- Select Save, then Save Changes.
Verify it worked
Scan the store's QR code on a phone. The Directions item appears in the menu, and selecting it opens Google Maps with that store as the destination.
