Display tags let a campaign play on particular screens rather than on every display of a type. Think of the screen overlooking the food court, the window-facing displays, or the ones in a high-traffic aisle. You create the tags once, tag each display, then target the campaign at the tag.

Before you begin

  • An HQ Admin account.
  • The displays already registered — see Register a new display or device.
  • A campaign to target. A clear display-type naming convention (for example store-entrance-portrait-left) makes the tag strategy easier for new staff to follow.

Create the display tags

  1. In the left navigation, select Company Settings.
  2. In the sub-navigation, expand Retail Settings and select Display Tags.
  3. Select Add New Display Tag.
  4. Enter the tag name, for example Food Court, and confirm.

Assign tags to displays

  1. In the left navigation, select Displays & Devices. The Assigned Devices tab opens.
  2. Select the display name. The Display Details tab opens.
  3. In Display Tags, choose 1 or more tags.
  4. Select Save Changes.
  5. Repeat for each display.

Store staff can also tag their own displays in Retail Admin under Displays & Devices → Manage Displays, in the Display Tags field of the display's details.

Target the campaign at a tag

  1. In the left navigation, select Campaigns, then select the campaign name.
  2. Select the Targeting tab.
  3. Select Add New "AND" Condition.
  4. In the first select, choose Store / Location Data.
  5. In the second select, choose Display Tag(s).
  6. In the third select, choose includes selected.
  7. In the fourth select, choose the tag or tags.
  8. Select Save Changes.
Display tags combine with schedules. A campaign tagged Food Court with a daily 12:00–13:00 schedule plays on the food-court screens over lunch and nowhere else.

Verify it worked

Once activated, the campaign plays only on displays that carry a matching tag. On any such display, the Campaign Playback tab lists the play with the tag rule in Matched Rule; displays without the tag never show it.

Troubleshooting

The campaign plays on a display that does not have the tag

Cause. The tag rule was added as an OR row inside a group that already matched, rather than as its own AND group.

Fix. Remove the row and add the tag rule with Add New "AND" Condition so it becomes a separate requirement.
