Let a visitor join the queue by scanning a QR code on a display
Some visitors want to browse first and join the queue later. With QR Control on a display, they scan the display's QR code and choose Join the queue from the mobile site menu, wherever they are in the store and without a staff member. This is an HQ Admin set-up and takes about 5 minutes.
Before you begin
- An HQ Admin account with the Admin role.
- Queueing enabled — see Enable virtual store queueing.
- QR Control enabled for the platform — see Enable QR Control and set the default QR code settings.
Part 1 — Add a join-the-queue item to a mobile site template
Either add the item to the template your displays already use, or create a dedicated template.
- In the left navigation of HQ Admin, select Platform Admin.
- Under Enabled Features, select Mobile Store Sites.
- Select the template's name, or select Add New Template and enter a Template Name.
- Select Add Menu Item.
- Choose the pre-configured Join the queue menu item, check its settings and select Save.
- Select Save Changes.
Part 2 — Enable QR Control on each display
- In the left navigation, select Displays & Devices.
- Select the display.
- Select the Enabled Features tab.
- Tick Enable QR Control.
- In QR Control - Mobile Site Template, choose the template from Part 1.
- Adjust Size, Qr Code Colour and Connected Icon/Logo Colour if needed — see Change the QR code size, colour or position on a display.
- Select Save Changes.
- Repeat for every display you want visitors to join from.
Verify it worked
Each display shows a QR code. Scanning it opens the mobile site with a Join the queue option; completing the form adds the visitor to the store's Waiting view in Retail Admin, and their most recent interaction shows the display they scanned.
