To synchronise store data with Google Business Profile, the platform signs in to Google with an OAuth 2.0 client that Google has approved for the Business Profile APIs. This article shows where to find that client's Client ID and Client secret in Google Cloud and how to register the platform's redirect URI. Allow about 10 minutes.

Before you begin

  • Google approval for your organisation to use the Business Profile APIs. Google approves 1 project per organisation; see Google's Business Profile APIs prerequisites.
  • Access to that project in the Google Cloud console with permission to edit credentials.
  • Your platform domain, for example ph.yourdomain.com.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the Google Cloud console.
  2. In the project selector in the top bar, choose the project Google approved for Business Profile access.
  3. In the left navigation, select APIs & Services → Credentials.
  4. Under OAuth 2.0 Client IDs, select the client that Google approved to access your organisation's Business Profile listings.
  5. Copy the Client ID and Client secret shown on the client's page and store them somewhere secure, such as your organisation's password manager.
  6. Under Authorised redirect URIs, add your platform's callback address in the form https://<your-platform-domain>/location-api/auth/google/callback — for example https://ph.yourdomain.com/location-api/auth/google/callback.
  7. Select Save.
Treat the Client secret like a password. Never paste it into a support ticket or email.

Verify it worked

The client's page lists your platform's callback address under Authorised redirect URIs, and you have the Client ID and Client secret ready to enter in the platform.

Next step

Create API authentication credentials for an integration — the platform needs a Secret/Token of its own before you connect Google Business Profile.
