Hi I’m Rob,
I’m the Founder & CEO of Offline2Online (an Australian consultancy that specialises in personalisation) & Personalisation Hub (a platform that supports personalisation in retail)…
Over the past months I’ve watched & am still feeling the hype/excitement/fear around AI. I’ve been amazed by how companies (a few months old) have raised so much funding. It does remind me a bit of the .com boom/bust, where only a few survived…
I’m also seeing an increasing amount of talk about how AI is going to transform personalisation & the wider marketing industry. That’s the reason I decided to get back into blogging (as a real person & not written by AI).
My new year’s resolution was to start blogging again, looking at the future of marketing & personalisation from a major retailer’s perspective.
On this blog, I’ll share my thoughts on how I see marketing & personalisation evolving within this new ‘AI powered’ world.
Obviously, personalisation has been around for decades. Humans have always had the need (to feel connected). The thing that is changing (& it’s now happening a lot faster).
About me
I started working on personalisation in 2000 (for a start-up called Vizzavi in London). We launched one of the world’s first WAP/WML portals. Screen size was very limited, so personalisation was very much a thing back then (albeit a pipe dream).
Vizzavi was eventually (wholly) acquired by Vodafone Group & I became a Global Product Manager responsible for Gaming, then Music. After spending way too much time on planes and in airports I relocated to Sydney, Australia. I got permanent residency & I got back into the start-up world again.
On a personal note: I’m married, 2 boys (ages 11 and 14). I’m a keen wing-foiler & ex-golfer (I just can’t dedicate the time anymore – hopefully soon).
I hope you enjoy this blog
