# Appointment template settings reference

> Every setting on an Appointment Template in Platform Admin, with its default value and what it controls.

An Appointment Template holds the booking rules that apply to every store it is assigned to. Templates are listed under **Platform Admin → Enabled Features → Queueing / Appointments → Appointment Settings**; select a template name to open it. The values shown are the defaults on the template named **Appointments Template**.

## Template

| Setting | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Template Name | Appointments Template | The name shown in the **Appointment Template assigned to this Store** list on each store's **Enabled Features** tab. |

## Appointment booking settings

| Setting | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Allow Customer to Book Appointments — Minutes after Store Opening | 0 | The first bookable timeslot starts this many minutes after the store's opening time for that day. |
| Allow Customer to Book Appointments — Minutes before Store Closing | 30 | No timeslot is offered within this many minutes of the store's closing time. |
| Default Appointment Duration | 60 minutes | The length of each appointment timeslot. |
| Buffer Added to the End of Each Appointment Timeslot | 0 minutes | Extra time reserved after each timeslot before the next one can start. |
| Default # of Appointment Slots | 1 per Timeslot | How many appointments can be booked in the same timeslot. Each store's **Store Hours** has a per-day **# of Appointment Slots** value as well. |

## Appointment self-service settings

| Setting | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Allow Appointment Booking to Be Made | 5 days in advance | How far ahead a customer can book. |
| Stop Accepting Appointment Bookings | 4 hours in advance | Bookings close this long before the timeslot starts. |
| Send SMS Reminder to a Customer | 24 hours before their appointment | When the **Appointments - Reminder** SMS is sent. |
| Time to Click to Confirm their Appointment | 5 minutes | How long the customer has to open the confirmation link in the **Appointments - Click Link to Confirm** message before the booking lapses. |
| Customers can Cancel / Reschedule their Appointment up until | 12 hours before their appointment start time | The latest a customer can cancel or reschedule themselves. |
| Customer can Check-In for their Appointment | 30 minutes before their appointment start time | The earliest a customer can check in on arrival, for example by scanning the store's QR code. |

## Message sending settings

| Setting | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| SMS Max Retry | 2 times | How many times a failed SMS is resent. |
| SMS Retry Interval | 30 seconds | Wait between SMS retries. |
| Email Retry Interval | 30 seconds | Wait between email retries. |

Changes take effect when you select **Save Changes** on the template. **Cancel** discards them.
